Day 17 - May Be Our Last!

Today we moved back to stumble, saying goodbye to Brenu and our buddies. It is such an amazing place, all of us hope to return! Most of the day was spent eating generous amounts of food for lunch, and lazing around on the beach, just chillin' out, maxin', relaxin' all cool. Not much happened today, except for our last long finance chat and to pick up our passports. We might not write again, as the next few days are full of jungle adventures and other escapades. See you all soon!

Day 16

The first day of goodbyes. We ate popcorn and peanutbutter sandwiches (not for Alie) for breakfast - such fatties. We then crammed ourselves into our dresses and collared shirts and headed off to church. We visited both the catholic and methodist churches, to be fair to both, and they were dancing and singing all around. We then ventured back to camp and started to prepare for our handover and performances. When the time came, the cultural dancing introduced the 'ceremony' which included both Ghanian and Bruni girls (and 2 boys). It was all filmed so you'll hopefully get to see it when we get home. The drama was after this and Ben P was the starring role of the sick malaria ridden person, with mosquitos biting him in the night and being taken to Doctor Dickson in the morning. This showed everyone our understanding of malaria and hopefully encouraged them to protect themselves against it. We then handed over our main project - the animal farm. The community seemed pleased with our work and the Cheif was very interested in the animals. After everyone had dispersed we went down to the beach and some of us were dragged all around Brenu meeting different peoples families. They were all kind, and especially to Ellie, she recieved 2 pinapples on her tour. For dinner we had our last meal with Gloria and Bernice, which everyone was going to miss. We said our final goodbyes to them, and a few tears were shed, but it couldn't be helped. A very eventful day it was!

Day 15

Today was party day! The girls got hold of their dresses and trousers - finally. After a lounge around day in our trousers we all headed to the beach to prepare, cold showers all around :) The number of people on the beach was incredible, as the uni students came down to the coast to party. The huge PA system was booming, and we've never seen Brenu so busy. There were also 4 funerals going on in town, but this was a reason for the locals to celebrate the loved ones lives and have a good time. The buffet/party that we had was much needed and went down well for all. The campfire and the amazing night sky was a joy for all.

Day 14

Ellie, Ben R, Ollie, Dave and Isaac went shopping for a few bits in Cape Coast. The rest of the bruni's went down to the beach for some lazy time! Robert took Grace to upload some Ghanian music onto her ipod - an exciting feat to find once we return and can play it! Dancing started up later, with our buddies, which is always fun. Ollie and Peter got their handmade clothes - Peter's purple jacket and Ollies shirt and trousers look amaaazing.
